Please pray for my son who is going through a dark night of the soul. Pray that he finally reaches out to our Lord for help.

Prayer to Saint John of the Cross

Saint John of the Cross, in the darkness of your worst moments, when you were alone and persecuted, you found God. Help us to have faith that God is there especially in the times when God seems absent and far away. Amen

O God, Who didst endow holy John,

Thy confessor and doctor,

with a wonderful love of self-denial

and a surpassing love of the cross;

grant that by following ever in his footsteps,

we may obtain everlasting glory.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son,

Who liveth and reigneth with Thee

in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God,

world without end.

Prayer to Saint Monica

Exemplary Mother of the great Augustine, you perseveringly pursued your wayward son not with wild threats but with prayerful cries to heaven. Intercede for all mothers in our day so that they may learn to draw their children to God. Teach them how to remain close to their children, even the prodigal sons and daughters who have sadly gone astray. Amen.
